この場面の support は「支持する」で
いいだろう。

measures は measure の複数形で、思い
つくのは、道具の「メジャー」とか
「測ること」に関係するものである。
measure がこの意味ではないことは、
分かるのだが、意味が分からなくても
次の but 以下の部分が分かり、また、
この the measures を含む文章のすぐ
ひとつ前の文章も分かるため、それほど
気にしなくともいいかな、と思って
しまった。何回か読んでいると気に
なってしまい、調べることになった。

となる。「対策」と考えていいだろう。
「公的な」ところに特徴がありそうだ。

気になったのは、この意味が一番目に
あることでである。この意味がよく使わ
れているということになる。

異なっていることに、少し驚いた。ただ、
印象に残りやすいことを考えると、調べ
ることなく分かったつもりになっていた
ようである。

道具の「メジャー」を知っているため、
measure という単語の意味を分かった気
になっていたのである。

measure のような単語は厄介だなぁ、と
思う。理解してしまうとそういうもの
だと、思えるのだろうが、覚えられるか
どうかが問題である。measure は厄介な

これで何とか measure のことを整理す
ることができた。
